IN Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), the primates from a scientific experiment in a Northern California biotech lab revolted and broke free.

Peaceful co-existence was not to be, what with a simian flu bringing humans to near extinction and, at the same time, genetically enhancing the simians under the leadership of the hyper-intelligent ape Caesar (played by Andy Serkis).

The US Army began searching to destroy Caesar in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and now, it is a full-on War for the Planet of the Apes.
