Big banks would have beefed up their security: IBM official

WHILE organisations are expected to be on high alert over the rapid spread of ransomware known as WannaCry, the absence of large global banks as confirmed hits over the weekend may speak of the heightened awareness of financial institutions of cyber threats, for now.
"This is one possibility," said Gene Ng, Asean lead for IBM Security, when asked if banks are raising their security checks amid heightened cyber threats. "Banks, being highly valued targets, would have beefed up their security."
