HSBC donated S$422,360 to ChildAid at an event at the Singapore Science Centre for needy children
A boon for needy children
ABOUT 250 children from various family service centres and intervention programmes celebrated Children's Day at the Singapore Science Centre last Saturday, with 80 HSBC staff volunteers as chaperones. HSBC made a donation of S$422,360 to ChildAid at the event, which brings the bank's total donation to the cause this year to half a million dollars. ChildAid is an annual charity concert which supports The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BTBAF) and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF).
On the same day, a separate event was held at Downtown East for 20 children from the STSPMF, who were taken on a sponsored shopping trip at Cheers. The activity was part of a closing ceremony for a month-long initiative by Cheers and FairPrice Foundation. Together with Yeo Hiap Seng, they raised a total of S$20,000 for the STSPMF in September, by donating 30 cents collectively for each Yeo's Coconut/Asian drink sold at Cheers and FairPrice Xpress stores.
