Dinosaurs rule in old-fashioned action adventure

THEY'RE back - and they're still the stars of the show. A summer season blockbuster with dinosaurs on the menu just seems so 1993, but Jurassic World isn't going to take a backseat to any spandex-wearing superhero, giant earthquake or foul-mouthed teddy. Instead, this revivalist flick with roots in a game-changing movie from two decades ago is likely to propel itself - like its fabled predecessor - to the top of the box-office food chain.

It seemed like such a good idea at the time. In Jurassic Park (1993), a billionaire builds a wildlife park on a tropical island and fills it with cloned dinosaurs to give people a taste of life on earth 66 million years ago.

The big problem, as depicted in that movie and two lesser sequels (The Lost World, 1997, and Jurassic Park III, 2001), was that unlike more predictable creatures - say, sheep - the dinosaurs had a tendency to run amok and bite the hands that fed them (or worse).
