Teen Spidey comes of age in reboot
Spider-Man: Homecoming is a high-energy episode that has enough going for it to hold the attention of fans as well as casual viewers.
HOW many reboots can one superhero franchise take? More than you might think, where Spider-Man is concerned. It's not Groundhog Day but everyone's favourite web-slinger is back in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Marvel Comics character's second reboot in just 15 years.
The good news is that this version, directed by Jon Watts, has enough going for it to hold the attention of ardent fans as well as more casual Spidey followers who may or may not have seen all the five films preceding it.
The filmmakers have come up with a high-energy episode that gives some actual thought to storyline. It comes complete with a multi-faceted villain, frenetic action scenes and the requisite humour and special effects. There's an unexpected plot twist in the final reel for good measure.
