Decade Of Darkness
In 2006, The Observatory's Yuen Chee Wai and Norwegian experimental composer Lasse Marhaug spent a night recording at the now-defunct FluxUs record store at Peninsula Shopping Centre. The session was partially mixed but never finished or released.
Ten years later, the duo meet again to record in Marhaug's studio in Oslo and although unplanned, both recordings have been released together on the collaborative album In Praise of Shadows.
The earlier session features more drone-like material while the newer one has an angular electronic vibe. Like the cover photo shot by Philipp Aldrup, the music is both dark and haunting.
