Bond risks: information beats regulation

THE recent spate of defaults by a few companies on bonds has prompted some to ask for more regulation.
The arguments are broadly in favour of more and tighter legislation to protect investors including the less experienced "accredited investor".
It is true that some of them may not have the street wisdom to recognise the risks of buying into high yielding instruments.
