Singapore hotel brands take on the world
AS SINGAPOREAN travellers, we've all felt the sudden craving for instant noodles or laksa after several straight days of Western food when abroad. Imagine, then, if you were staying in a hotel where you could order anything from laksa to mee goreng, and wash it down with a Singapore Sling? It's not a pipe dream - more Singapore hotel brands are now expanding overseas, and some are offering a taste of home as part of their unique identity.
In tomorrow's issue of BT Weekend magazine, we spotlight the hotel names that are fast spreading their wings and what it is that makes them stand out from other international properties. We also catch up with Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron, who won the 2014 Academy Award for Best Director for the movie Gravity. Instead of moving on to bigger projects, he stepped away from it all to make the small-budget indie movie Roma. He tells us why he did that. Also check out our stories on The Datai in Langkawi and our feature on India's biggest visual arts event in Kochi.
