Gem of a history
An exhibition of Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery pieces offers a gateway into the lives of wealthy women over a century.
CATE Blanchett, Australian actress and Hollywood A-lister, graced the Friday preview of Van Cleef & Arpels' exhibition of over 400 jewellery pieces at the ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands.
Looking effortlessly chic in an all-black ensemble and a windblown bob, she sported the fine jeweller's yet-to-be released line, the Bouton d'Or collection. The pieces on her neck, wrist and finger were made out of an eclectic mix of yellow gold, Onyx and crysoprase pastilles, each one enclosed with a diamond.
Though Blanchett did not speak extensively to the press, she is known to be a fan of the brand, often accessorising her red-carpet gowns with Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery. She even paired her costumes with the brand's estate jewellery for the 1950s period drama Carol (2015), for which she earned her sixth Oscar nomination.
