Who are you?

I am Naeem Kapadia, a consultant lawyer in a bank. I handle loan structuring, documentation and provide transaction management support for deals across the bank's loans and finance business in Asia. I work on a wide variety of international finance transactions with both corporate and institutional clients.

I am a passionate and inquisitive person who loves adventure and travel. I have visited countries such as Iceland, Morocco and Sri Lanka. Nothing animates me more than the sights and sounds of another culture, sampling new cuisines and meeting new people. Besides travelling, I am a fan of classic menswear and shoes. I have a growing collection of shoes by some of the finest leather artisans around the world. I'm running out of space!

What drives you?

I'm driven by success, not so much in the material sense, but in living my life to the fullest. I want to drink deeply from all that life has to offer. For instance, when I have a meal in a good restaurant, I want an experience that goes beyond just the food, so I pay close attention to presentation, plating, ambience and company.

I am always searching for that unique personalised experience - hence, I love bespoke tailoring because there's nothing quite like a garment created from scratch entirely for you. I crave attention in detail in whatever I wear, be it Belgian loafers in buttery soft lamb suede or a perfectly executed Milanese buttonhole on a tailored jacket.

What do you do in your free time?

I love running and regularly take part in competitions both in Singapore and abroad. One of my most memorable races was the Angkor Wat International Half-Marathon. Running through a Unesco World Heritage site as the sun rose over the ancient monuments, village kids cheering you on, was a truly priceless experience.

I am also passionate about the arts and culture. I regularly attend plays, musicals, museum exhibitions and other cultural events. I frequently review plays and have my own dedicated theatre blog, Crystalwords. I have contributed reviews and podcasts for a variety of arts publications over the years including The Flying Inkpot, TODAY and Arts Equator.

Finish this sentence: I'm inspired by...

Creativity and chutzpah. I love hearing about people who have walked away from the tried-and-tested route and done something innovative and game-changing. In a world of conformity, nothing is sexier than fierce individualism and I love books and movies that feature characters who take the road less-travelled and chart their own destinies.
