Baking star
Have your cakes rated by an ex-Michelin inspector and be taught by her too. Heather Soto is a pastry specialist-turned-Michelin inspector-turned-consultant who will be in town on Nov 18 to conduct two baking masterclasses for aspiring pastry chefs as well as professionals. It's a tie-up with local baking start-up Homebakee, and is an intense four-hour session that includes a tutorial on selecting ingredients and how to combine flavours, as well as dessert styling. Participants also get to take home a mystery box challenge with ingredients to create a dessert at home, which she will critique in an extra two-hour assessment. The whole masterclass package is priced at $230, including $150 worth of free desserts and ingredients.
