Neighbourhood Chow
For the past three years, Baba Chews has kept Katong residents satiated with its selection of Peranakan dishes. Executive chef Alvin Leong has just introduced a new menu that is more inclusive, with Asian-inspired dishes and a selection of Western classics.
A good appetiser to start with is the Otah Yu Tiao, which has homemade mackerel otah spiked with kaffir leaves, stacked between charcoal dough fritters and served with a light sambal sabayon. From the selection of main dishes, the Chilli Crab Tagliatelle has been a crowd favourite for its spicy kick and al dente pasta.
Highlights from the Western menu include barbecued St Louis-style pork spare ribs slathered with a rich, smoky glaze. For something light, the Quinoa Salad fits the bill.
