The Breeziest Guide To Good English
Dreyer's English, a book on grammar and writing, has surprised everyone by making it to The New York Times Best Seller list
YES, YES, WE KNOW what you might be thinking: Not another book on English grammar! Haven't we had enough of that in school? But hear us out for at least the next sentence: Dreyer's English: An Utterly Correct Guide to Clarity & Style (2019) is possibly the breeziest guide to English usage right now.
You might wish to ask next: How thick is it? The answer is 320 pages for the current hardcover edition. Which, admittedly, seems thick. But believe us when we say you could probably finish it in less than a day because it's just so easy to read.
When the book was released earlier this year, it instantly hit The New York Times Best Sellers list. It could be because Benjamin Dryer, copy chief of Random House, has already amassed over 51,000 Twitter followers who adore him for his acerbic wit. It could also be because Dreyer's English offers a simple, lively and much-needed guide to writing better, one that is less stuffy and pedantic than most classic manuals such as The Elements of Style by William Strunk and E.B. White.
