Would Rachmaninoff love a glass of Islay Whisky?
Maduro explores music and whisky pairings with style
INSPIRED by London’s private members’ clubs, realtor-turned-bar-owner Peter Ng wanted to create a bar that would provide a classy venue for networking: where deals are made, secrets traded, and drinks enjoyed over live music.
The result: whisky, cigar and jazz lounge Maduro. After opening at Dempsey Hill in 2019, it earned a loyal following. Today, regulars still make the trip down to its current location in the lower lobby of Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, where it moved to in June 2023.
Though Maduro takes its cue from members’ clubs, Ng does not want it to be perceived as one. Instead, he seeks “an unpretentious atmosphere with just the right amount of exclusivity”.
